WHAT IS HYDROSALPENX?
Hydrosalpenx is a cystic fluid accumulation in the tubes that form the connection between the uterus, the uterus, and the egg. It disrupts the function of the tubes and the arrival of the egg into the uterus or the sperm reaching the egg is impaired.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF HYDROSALPENX?
Hydrosalpenx recurrent or persistent abdominal pain, pain during intercourse, recurrent or persistent vaginal infection, bloody watery discharge.
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF HYDROSALPINGES?
Vaginal infections, sexually transmitted diseases, intra-abdominal infections, intra-abdominal adhesions, endometriosis, cysts, fibroids, previous surgeries can cause hydrosalpenx.
IS HYDROSALPENX A CAUSE OF INFERTILITY?
Hydrosalpenx can cause infertility. The fluid that accumulates in the tubes prevents the egg from coming into the uterus. This fluid flows into the uterus and is toxic for sperm and egg. It prevents pregnancy.
DOES HYDROSALPINX CAUSE PREGNANCY LOSS?
It can cause recurrent pregnancy loss. The fluid accumulated in the tubes is toxic for the pregnancy. It may cause early pregnancy loss.
DOES HYDROSALPINX CAUSE IN VITRO FERTILIZATION FAILURE?
Hydrosalpenx causes in vitro fertilization (IVF) failure. The embryo placed in the uterus cannot attach to the uterus because of the fluid coming from the tubes. And this fluid is toxic for pregnancy.
HOW IS HYDROSALPENX TREATED?
The treatment of hydrosalpenx is surgical. There is no drug treatment. Sometimes, if there is intra-abdominal or vaginal infection, antibiotic treatment is given and the response is monitored. Surgery is performed with closed method laparoscopic or robotic surgery. Open surgery is not recommended.
HOW IS HYDROSALPENX DIAGNOSED?
It can be diagnosed by ultrasound during the examination or by uterine X-ray (HSG) (hysterosalpingography).
HOW IS HYDROSALPENX SURGERY PERFORMED?
In closed surgery, laparoscopy is used to remove the disrupted cystic tube. If the cystic fluid accumulation is in two tubes, both tubes are removed. If the tube is intact, the parts causing the obstruction are opened so that the fluid accumulated in the tubes can drain.
CAN HYDROSALPENX OCCUR IN TWO TUBES?
Rarely, there may be cystic fluid accumulation in both tubes. The two tubes are removed laparoscopically.
HOW TO TREAT HYDROSALPINX IN TWO TUBES?
Two tubes are removed with laparoscopic surgery. In this case, the patient cannot conceive normally and can conceive with in vitro fertilization.
DOES HYDROSALPINGES DISRUPT THE TUBES?
The tubes lose their function. They cannot carry eggs and sperm. The canal becomes blocked. It prevents conception.
WHAT CAUSES HYDROSALPINGES?
Infertility, ectopic pregnancy, persistent abdominal pain, persistent vaginal infections and discharge.
HOW TO TREAT PREGNANCY IN HYDROSALPINX?
The tube with hydrosalpenx is removed and pregnancy is planned naturally. If she cannot conceive for 6 months, she is referred to in vitro fertilization. If both tubes are removed, she cannot conceive naturally. She is referred directly to in vitro fertilization.
SHOULD THE TUBES BE REMOVED BEFORE IVF IN HYDROSALPINX?
Cystic tubes with hydrosalpenx must be removed before IVF. Because it reduces the success of IVF very much.
IS THE RISK OF ECTOPIC PREGNANCY HIGH IN HYDROSALPINX?
Hydrosalpinx increases the risk of ectopic pregnancy. These cystic fluid-filled tubes are damaged.
WHAT ARE THE RECOMMENDATIONS TO AVOID HYDROSALPENX?
Vaginal infections should be treated appropriately and correctly. Routine gynecological check-ups should be performed.
