A uterine curtain or septum is a congenital anomaly of the uterus. A curtain forms in the uterus and divides the uterus completely or partially in two. Most patients go undiagnosed and have no symptoms.

These patients usually have no complaints. They are diagnosed incidentally during gynecological examination. Sometimes patients come to us because of inability to conceive, recurrent pregnancy losses, abortion, miscarriage.
Vaginal ultrasonography, 3-dimensional ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, hysteroscopy, hysterosalpingography, i.e. uterine X-ray, can easily make the diagnosis.
How is a uterine septum treated?
Congenital anomalies that may be associated with it are investigated. Vaginal curtain, vaginal absence, absence of kidney or location of the kidney in the groin are investigated.
The best treatment is a closed hysteroscopy. Hysteroscopy is a surgical procedure in which the inside of the uterus is visualized with a camera.
When can I become pregnant after hysterectomy?
It is possible to become pregnant 3 months after the surgical procedure.
Does uterine curtain surgery cause infertility?
It does not cause infertility, on the contrary, it increases the chances of conception.
