What is Istmosel?
Isthmosel occurs after cesarean section and is a rare condition. It is when the sutures on the incision line made in the uterus during cesarean section do not heal and the suture line opens. There is a partial or full opening in the suture line in the uterus. Herniation out of this opening and a fluid-filled sac is formed. Fluid or menstrual blood accumulates in this sac.
What are the effects of Istmosel?
There is constant discharge into the uterus from the sac filled with blood and fluid formed on the poorly healed cesarean incision line. This impairs the health of the uterus.
What are the signs of isthmocele?
It can cause recurrent vaginal infections, recurrent dirty, less, dark, thick intermediate bleeding, menstrual irregularity, spotting-style bleeding after intercourse, early recurrent miscarriages, i.e. pregnancy losses, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, i.e. the formation of pregnancy in this sac, abdominal pain that does not go away, severe menstrual pain.https://www.youtube.com/embed/LEw9bV6fsGA?wmode=transparent&jqoemcache=LDKMU
How is isthmus diagnosed?
If you don't think of it, it is difficult to diagnose and the patient is easily missed. If left untreated, the patient's complaints will not get better. In patients with these complaints, the simplest diagnosis can be made with ultrasonography. First of all, this condition should come to your mind and you should suspect it. You should be experienced in this field and you should have seen it before. If necessary, the diagnosis is made with MRI, i.e. magnetic resonance imaging or uterine film, i.e. HSG.
What should I do if I get pregnant with Istmosel?
If you are diagnosed with isthmocele after conception, a detailed evaluation is performed. If the baby is coming out of this sac, there is a problem. This opening must be closed surgically, i.e. by laparoscopy or robotic surgery. Otherwise the pregnancy will not continue. Or there will be a miscarriage and the pregnancy will be lost.
How is Istmosel treated?
Treatment of isthmocele is surgical. There is no medication treatment. When the diagnosis is made, laparoscopic or robotic cesarean section line is closed by suturing the uterine opening.
